ON GUARD!!

Queen Elizabeth II of England has special guards to protect her and to watch her palaces and castles. They often wear traditional uniforms.
The gates of Buckingham Palace in London are watched by the Foot Guards. There are four guards at the gates when the Queen is at home but when she’s away, there are only two.
Many tourist come to the palace to see the Changing of the Guard, it’s a very impressive ceremony which you can see in spring and summer every day at 11:30 a.m, in autumn and winter it happens every two days.

On the other hand the Yeomen Warders are the guards of the Tower of London. They guard the castle and the Crown Jewels. Yeoman Warders are also called “Beefeaters” because in the past, people didn’t eat a lot of meat because it was expensive, but the Yeoman Warders had large portions of beef every day (“beef-eaters”).  The Yeoman Warder’s ceremonial uniform consists of a long red jacket with lots of gold decoration. It also includes a black hat, a white collar and white gloves.
